An Art Déco sterling silver lidded bowl
A sterling silver Art Déco lidded bowl
London 1935 by Reid & Sons
The squatted globular plain body standing on a flat base. The body surrounded by engine turned engraving and with antique greek deity to the front of the lower surface, most probably Janus. The detachable domed lid terminated by a baluster shaped knob.
This elegant lidded bowl in the Arts & Crafts style is a good gauge of silver and in wonderful presentation condition. Such bowls were in use for sugar or sweetmeats.
