A George III sterling silver tea service
A George III sterling silver tea service
London 1806 by Duncan Urquhart & Naphtali Hart
Standing on a flat base, the bodies vertically divided by drapery and decorated to all sides by curved moulding which shows floral engravings. Free monogram section to the front and the back. The swan neck shaped spout of the teapot square shaped to the cross section, the brown handle and the knob made of box wood (strong probability).
A fine and impressive tea set of the early 19th century, one of the rare examples which still contains the original stand of the teapot. The sets shows identical hallmarks to all pieces, although these are rubbed in parts to the milk jug and the sugar bowl (please refer to the images).
