A rare modernist sterling silver coffee and tea service,
\nMilan 1960\/70 by Fratelli Cacchione<\/p>\n

The straight rectangular bodies decorated with parallel line engraving surrounding the unengraved monogram cartouche to the left and right, one side left completely smooth. The hinged lids analogously decorated with line engraving and crowned by a central cuboid-shaped knob. The plain spouts of the teapot and the coffee pot are subtly curved at their tips, the handles are left completely smooth.<\/p>\n

This exceptional and elegant modernist sterling silver coffee and tea service is in excellent condition and one of the rare examples of Italian modernism of the late 1960s being executed in silver. At that time, chrome or stainless steel was preferred to the much more expensive silver. The realisation of the individual elements are made with the greatest precision and the engraved decoration highlight the exquisite manufacturing quality of this work.
\nThe Fratelli Cacchione silversmithy was founded in 1889 by Ciro Cacchione and is still run today in fifth generation by the family. Along with Buccellati, Fratelli Cacchione is considered one of the most important silversmithies in Italy and has supplied Tiffany, Cartier, Asprey, Harry Winston and Bedetti di Roma (as is the case here), among others, with their work in silver and gold.
\nFratelli Cacchione’s silver work is among the best in post-war Italian design.<\/p>\n

\n15.8 cm \/ 6.22″ length, 5.1 cm \/ 2.0″ width, 10.4 cm \/ 4.09″ tall to the knob; 392 g \/ 12.60 oz<\/p>\n

Coffee pot:
\n14.5 cm \/ 5.70″ length, 4.1 cm \/ 1.61″ width, 12.3 cm \/ 4.84″ tall to the knob; 389 g \/ 12.50 oz<\/p>\n

Milk jug:
\n10.7 cm \/ 4.21″ length, 3.5 cm \/ 1.37″ width, 8.2 cm \/ 3.22″ tall to the knob; 223 g \/ 7.16 oz<\/p>\n

Sugar bowl:
\n7.2 cm \/ 2.83″ length, 7.2 cm \/ 2.83″ width, 5.7 cm \/ 2.24″ tall to the knob; 246 g \/ 7.90 oz<\/p>\n
