A George III sterling silver tea caddy,
London 1786 by John Hutson
Oval shaped body with vertical fluting to all sides. The flat hinged plain top with central baluster knob and a contemporar family crest. A fine and impressive tea caddy of the late 18th century without damages or repairs and with original surface and good color.
The unembellished composition as well as the utmost stereometric design elements let this sterling silver tea caddy appear near as modern and illustrates exemplarily the great influence of the plain silver works from the late 18th century to the works of Arts and Crafts style or Art Déco.
