A “Skyscraper” sterling silver cruet set, 1936 – 44 by Georg Jensen

Item number: 53742

A rare sterling silver cruet set “Skyscraper” #793,
Copenhagen 1936 – 44 by Georg Jensen

A very rare cruet set in the “Skyscraper” pattern, #793, designed by Jørgen Jensen, 1936. Executed by Georg Jensen silversmithy between 1936 and 44.
Consisting of salt shaker, pepper shaker and mustard pot. The set is in excellent condition and is extremely rare in this constellation, as the mustard pot not only has its original spoon but also its glass insert (which is most probable also original). As a set from the Art Déco of additional rarity, since this spice set was still produced in the 1950s: the hallmarks of Georg Jensen allow a temporal classification into the time frame of 1933-44, but through the London import hallmarks this set can be dated to the year 1937 – it is therefore not only one of the first cruet sets of this design, but in view of the excellent preservation as well as of the fact of keeping originally together as a whole a rare stroke of luck.
