An outstanding modern Britannia silver “Brushstroke Dish”

Fully hammered bowl with accentuating diamond ridge which finishes to the centre of the bowl. The asymmetrically worked rim analogously decorated. The bowl wall with satin finished, mother-of-pearl like surface. The shape of the bowl increases discreetly in height to one side and is supported on the underside by a soldered support. Exceptional work of high exclusivity, designed with great refinement. A unique piece by one of the most important contemporary artists silversmiths in Great Britain whith a highly decorative, sculptural character. The bowl was shown in the original at the exhibition “Silver Speaks” of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
The artistic particularity of this work is illustrated not least by the fact that it was shown in the main picture on the website of this special exhibition for the public talk with the curator of the exhibition, Corinne Julius, taking place at the same time, showing Rauni Higson in conversation with the curator.

Regarded as one of Britain’s leading silversmiths, Rauni Higson is known for distinctive sculptural tableware, largely working to commission, including six pieces housed in the Goldsmiths’ Company Collection. Commissions include the National Museum of Wales, the Worshipful Company of Clothworkers, the Worshipful Company of Weavers and the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries. She was Chair of Contemporary British Silversmiths from 2014 to 2017.
