The “Magnolia / Blossom” pattern by Georg Jensen
The idea for the “Blossom” pattern (also known as “Magnolia” in continental Europe and Scandinavia) was first realised by Georg Jensen in 1905 in a silver work. In that year, he created the legendary teapot #2C in this pattern (of which we currently also offer an early example, see here), whose lid knob featured the magnolia blossom. Other silverware such as bowls, trays and other silverware followed. Years later (1919) Georg Jensen followed up this idea and designed the cutlery of the same name, which became Georg Jensen’s classic among silver cutlery. Due to its handcrafted production, each piece of “Magnolia / Blossom” cutlery is unique, which is why it is still the most expensive silver cutlery by Georg Jensen. The cutlery is still only produced in silver and is furthermore the only one that is still produced in Copenhagen, while the production has otherwise been outsourced to Thailand. The set offered here is still of the old Copenhagen quality and is in excellent condition – including the hammered surface. Even today, more than a hundred years after it was first issued, cutlery and silverware in the “Magnolia / Blossom” pattern are among Georg Jensen’s most popular silverware.
